The Sea Ranch

We just went to our favorite place for Spring Break - called The Sea Ranch.  It's on the coast above San Francisco and is near a little town called Gualala.

It's very isolated and there's not a Taco Bell for hours (well, a little over an hour).  It's our way of "roughing it."  This is a place my family has been going to since I was in high school.  I don't have memories of it when I was in high school because I refused to go (so I stayed home).  But in my mid 20's I caught on to the good thing and the last couple of years we've been going more regularly.  Jon says it's his "happy place."  That might be because it's the perfect place for a photographer, when not shooting he gets to read and eat.  That's about it.  Even our cell phones don't work so we are as unconnected as can be in the 21st Century (we still find ways to get the internet).

Believe it or not, we left Tigger home this time.  Actually we left him at a Dog Ranch called All Dogs Rule where he gets to run and romp and play all day with other dogs.  His most favorite activity after stalking me.  We also took my Dad and Crystal along with us so we could have  some good "bonding" time with them.

These are some scenery pictures so you get the "feel" of The Sea Ranch.  As you can see with the first 3, the main weather was GRAY with a few sun sightings

Emily, Jon and Kiel climbing on the endless amount of climbing rocks.  We have yet to be swept off to sea...

Gary and Jon getting in some reading on our "Beach Day."  We are sitting on Ohlson Beach in The Sea Ranch.  The beach had crazy waves that came from all directions and two waterfalls

We discovered a new beach near Point Arena called "bowling ball beach."  I guess because of all of the smooth boulders.  Probably not a good place to body surf but a really cool beach with lots of shells and rocks

Bowling ball beach included an adventurous climb down to get there.  Here's Jon coming back up to the path leading to our car
